Today the US destroyer Gravely has approached the Russian patrol vessel Yaroslav Mudry dangerously close in the eastern part of the Mediterranean, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported. 'On 17 June the American destroyer Gravely with guided missile weapon passed a Russian combat vessel dangerously close at a distance of 60-70 metres from the port side and crossed its course in front of it at a dangerous distance of 180 metres'.
As they also noted in the Ministry, our ships have never conducted such a dangerous maneuvering towards American vessels and have always followed the assigned route.
Such behaviour directly violates a number of agreements on safe navigation, including the one of 1972 'On the prevention of incidents in the open sea and in the air space above it'.
The Kremlin believes that new possible sanctions against Russia may lead to disastrous consequences, as Washington's actions will come contrary to the generally accepted rules of international trade
