Turkey to close border with Syria by Russia’s order

Turkey started considering possible closure of the border with Syria. The proposal to close the border was made during meetings of the Russian diplomats with their colleagues from Ankara under continuation of the talks between heads of Russia and Turkey in St. Petersburg on 9 August.

Moscow is sure that such measure will help to stop flow of terrorists and weapons. According to Viktor Vododlatsky, deputy head of the Russian State Duma Defence Committee, this issue has a direct bearing on national security of Russia. He also added that 'we can provide Turkey with satellite shots of sites where traffic of weapons and fighters is conducted'.

Member of the Russian Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Igor Morozov believes that Ankara's response will be positive. Today Turkey is determined to overcome all the questionable issues with Moscow.
