Political strategists outsmart founding fathers at US elections

US President-elect Donald Trump made a statement about a high percentage of fraud in the US presidential election. According to him, serious violations were made in Virginia, New Hampshire and California. It is worthy of note that Russian observers were not allowed to take part in the US election.

Trump claims that millions of people voted in the November 8 presidential election illegally. Still, Trump "won the Electoral College in a landslide" and "I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally," Trump tweeted.

US media were quick to call Donald Trump's statements about the electoral fraud in the United States "unsubstantiated", "far-fetched" and "baseless," RIA Novosti reports.  Politico dubbed Trump's statements a "fringe conspiracy theory."

Chairman of the Russian Public Institute of Electoral Law, member of the Presidential Council on Civil Society and Human Rights, Igor Borisov, shared his opinion on billionaire's most recent statements with Pravda.Ru:

"We have long believed that elections in the United States do not comply with international requirements for democratic elections, and the Americans do not meet the requirements that they proclaim themselves. According to the Russian Public Institute of Electoral Law, only one principle remains steadfast - the frequency of elections. All other principles of democratic elections are not fulfilled.

"The reason for this lies in the archaic nature of the American electoral system. Modern-day spin doctors easily bypass the principles of democratic elections established by the founding fathers. Presidential elections in America go together with violations, falsifications, manipulations and, in general, the distortion of the will of the voters.

"Suffice it to say that not all American citizens are included on the lists of voters eligible to vote. The system to access polling stations is different from one state to another. IDs are not required in many places, and political technologists use all these nuances for the interests of specific candidates.

"The election system in the USA needs to be reformed, brought into line with global standards of democratic elections, and the Americans start talking about it."
