Michael Baker, Indiana County Coroner, is trying to identify a man who was found dead after a reported explosion and fire at a home in western Pennsylvania.
Indiana County Coroner Michael Baker says the dead man's body was discovered in the basement after firefighters in White Township responded just before 9 p.m. Sunday.
A neighbor tells authorities he heard a loud explosion and then saw the house on fire.
Baker's office is overseeing an autopsy on Monday.
Baker says his office won't release other details until they confirm the man's identity and what killed him, Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
It was also reported, the incident occurred just before 8 p.m. Sunday evening when a neighbor said he heard an explosion and saw a fire at 213 Courtland Drive. Firefighters from three different companies -- Indiana Fire Association, Homer City and Coral-Graceton VFD -- worked for several hours to control the blaze.
An autopsy will be conducted Monday morning at the Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the state police fire marshal, ThePittsburghChannel.com reports.
News agencies also report, according to Michael Baker, neighbors heard an explosion just before 8 p.m. Firefighters from Indiana, Homer City and Coral-Graceton worked for several hours to gain control of the blaze and to protect nearby homes, Indiana Gazette reports.
