The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has neutralised the international criminal gang, which kidnapped several Indians. According to the FSB Public Relations Centre, the special operation resulted in the release of the nine Indians whom the criminals had kidnapped and violently held in the town of Tula for ransom.
The Pakistani Russians Bat Maksud Ahmed and Halid Nadim who plotted and perpetrated the kidnapping have been detained. Moscow's Kuzminki Inter-district Prosecutor's Office filed a criminal case under the article on kidnapping previously arranged and organised by a group of persons.
A FSB Public Relations Centre representative said that FSB officers had obtained information about the gang's other members. One of the perpetrators, a Pakistani citizen, now a Moscow resident, escaped. Other members are living in Central European countries, the FSB reports.
Investigators suggest that the international gang has long been smuggling people from South-East Asia, including Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, to Western Europe through the territories of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, the FSB Public Relations Centre announced.
