The bones of an Amur tiger and 13 pairs of deer antlers were discovered in the Maritime territory.
In Mikhailovka, the police stopped a car and discovered tiger bones and antlers in it, the press secretary of the Far East department of the World Wildlife Fund told RIA Novosti. They were meant to be smuggled to Southeast Asia.
"The barbarian tiger trade for oriental medicine needs is widely practiced in the Far East. The animal is killed and then its bones are dried according to special recipes and smuggled to Southeast Asia," said Mikhail Krechmar, the coordinator of the rare species programs of the Far East department of the WWF.
According to him, harsher punishment for this trade was recently introduced in China.
