The Russian Silovye Machiny concern has won the tender for manufacturing and delivering equipment for the Vietnamese "Pleikong" and "Sesan-3" hydroelectric power stations.

The press service of the concern reported that the competition was organised by the finance ministry and the ministry of industry, science and technologies.

The construction of power stations will be conducted within the framework of the intergovernmental agreement signed in March 2002 and financed at the expense of the state $100-million credit which Russia extended to Vietnam.

The total capacity of two energy units of the "Pleikong" power station will amount to 120 MegaWatts, and of the "Sesan-3" - to 274 MegaWatts. The main equipment for the hydropower stations - Francis turbines and hydrogenerators - will be manufactured at the St. Petersburg enterprises of the Silovye Machiny concern--Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod and Elektrosila.

The manufacturing of the equipment, including project works, will begin in the first quarter of 2003.
