Power workers in the Krasnodar region have rehabilitated electricity service in Bigger Sochi (a large Russian resort center on the Black sea). Repair teams under the guidance of the operative headquarters for resuming electricity supply in the Sochi region have eliminated wire breakages on a total of 2.5 kilometers and repaired the damaged transmission towers, RIA Novosti was told at the press service of the company RAO Russian Unified Energy Systems. Specialists say that the main reason for the damage of power transmission lines is the extreme weather. Over 30 centimeters of ice formed on wires and structures and the front of icing spread over 20 kilometers. As many as 429 supports of 6-10 kilowatts and over 1,300 supports of 0.4 kilowatts fell, hundreds of kilometers of wire was broken. At the present moment, rehabilitation work is proceeding on a 220-kilowatt transmission line and three 110-kilowatt lines, reports the United Energy Systems. Their putting back into operation will sizeably increase the dependability of power supply in the Sochi region. Work to rehabilitate power distribution grids, which have been most hit by the elements, also continues. The press service of the company RAO Russian Unified Energy Systems reports that over 300 specialists from nine repair-and-building organisations and five Kubanenergo Power Grids enterprises are engaged in eliminating effects of the catastrophe. Hundreds of people are engaged in the ensurance of such work.
