The forces of the Northern Alliance managed by Tuesday to clear major parts of the provinces Konduz, and Takhar in the north of Afghanistan which had been captured by Taliban in September. Forces loyal to Ahmad Shah Masud are successfully developing a counterattack launched last Friday, ITAR-TASS reports. They are now 8 km off Talukan, administrative capital of Takhar. Taliban is reported to suffers heavy losses. According to Northern Alliance, the number of those captured has reached “several hundreds”.
