Moscow is set to propose to the Georgian side opening additional Russian consulate points on Georgia’s territory in order to facilitate obtaining Russian visas by Georgian citizens, the ministry’s spokesperson says. The ministry hopes Tbilisi will treat Moscow’s constructive proposal with understanding. The spokesperson has emphasized that when Russia introduced the visa regime with Georgia, it acted strictly in accordance with the international law, RIA Novosti reports. It was only Tbilisi’s unreadiness to ensure security on the Russia-Georgia border that urged Moscow to resort to unilateral measures. At the same time, “the Russian side stays open to talks which can be resumed any time, as soon as our Georgian partners are ready for that,” the spokesperson added.
