Barak admits possible isolation of Israel

The Israeli premier spoke yesterday for the attempts to reach peace agreement with the Palestinians to continue. Mr. Barak warned the Cabinet members that “in case those efforts collapse, Israel is running the risk of facing a mounting isolation on the part of the international community.” Mr. Barak also said that following the collapse of the peace talks, “cracks may appear” in peace agreements with Egypt and Jordan signed earlier, RIA Novosti reports citing the Lebanese radio. As a result, Israel may be left face to face with the hostile rest of the Middle East. Touching upon the coming elections, the premier emphasized that a change in the political situation around Israel could not cancel previously assumed obligations. “We should not forget our interests. At the same time, we have to consider any idea which is worth to be considered, however painful it may be,” said the premier.
