300,000 ecstasy tablets have been seized during police raids in Spain.
Three hundred thousand ecstasy tablets have been seized in Spain. The drugs haul was uncovered in three police operations in Madrid, in Malaga and on the French border, according to information released by the Spanish Interior Ministry.
At the beginning of May, a consignment of 85,000 tablets was intercepted by police in Junquera (north-east) after trafficking activity in the Netherlands was monitored by an undercover drugs squad detail.
More and more young people are taking this drug at discos and private rave parties in Spain. The number of deaths has started to alarm the population, which was wrongly led to believe that this sort of drug was non-addictive and safe.
Not physically, but psychologically, addictive, the ingredients used in making ecstasy can provoke serious health problems in people who are sensitive to their side effects. This population group is far larger than it had at first been calculated.
