Russia is ready to co-operate with international organisations in the sphere of energy "in any format", said Energy Minister Igor Yusufov after the cabinet's regular session.
He said that Russia intended to continue its active co-operation with the OPEC and the International Energy Agency. The minister noted that Russia had been for the first time invited to take part in the session of the International Energy Agency. Russia's representatives intend to present "their own view" on the international energy co-operation, he said.
Answering the question whether Russia will support the decision of the OPEC on reducing oil production, the minister pointed out that "everything will depend on the trend of the decisions" of international organisations in this sphere. Russia is ready to support these decisions "if they correspond with our interests" which primarily concern the price policy, he said.
In addition, while adopting any decisions in the sphere of energy, it is necessary to keep the balance between the interests of the producer and the consumer, he underscored. If the decisions of international organisations meet all these conditions, "we are ready to join them," said the minister.
