Elektrosila has supplied generating equipment to two Swedish hydroelectric power stations: the Krangede and Grundfors plants. According to the company's press office, Finnish company Fortum is carrying out a full modernisation of the plants. The Power Machines concern, of which Elektrosila is a part, signed a contract with Fortum in 2002 to supply the equipment. The value of the contract has not been disclosed.
The Leningrad Metal Plant is also participating in the renovation of the Krangede station. It is supplying a new rotor and bearing for the plant's turbine. A new stator for the generator and a set of spare parts have also been produced for the Grundfors plant. The modernisation will increase generating capacity from 55 MW to 60 MW. Experts from Elektrosila plan to complete assembly work at the end of June 2003.
The company's collaboration with Fortum also includes projects to modernise the generators at the Emme and Aittokoski hydroelectric power stations in Finland in 2003.
The Power Machines group includes the Leningrad Metal Plant, Elektrosila the Turbine Paddle Factory, the Kaluga Turbine Factory, and the Energomashexport firm. The group's main shareholder are companies representing the interests of the Interros holding and its partners (94.27%) and Siemens (4.93%).
