Russian airline to sue sudanese authorities

The Russian airline Vertikal-T, whose helicopter was detained in Sudan on July 21 and only recently released, is planning to sue the Sudanese authorities. "We want to restore our business reputation and at least get official apologies," Kirill Anosov, a top executive with Vertikal-T, told RIA Novosti.

According to his words, the company has suffered $300,000 worth of damages.

The helicopter, a Mi-26T, was flying to Congo with UN markings signs when it was detained in El-Fasher, Sudan and accused of making a few alleged landings in rebel-controlled districts. The crew was released only when the Russian Foreign Ministry and UN structures stepped in.
