A rendezvous cruise involving the forces and ships of the Pacific Fleet, held in the combat training area south of the Maritime Territory, ends on Tuesday.
The fleet's press service told RIA Novosti that according to the exercise plan, Tuesday should be the most important day in the cruise. During the course of their journey to a gun position the ships rebuffed an enemy air attack.
During the cruise, the crews of the land-based patrol aircraft protected the ships while they launched missiles.
The cruise lasted several days and is the end of winter training for the Pacific Fleet sailors. The seamen, pilots, and soldiers took part in joint actions to accomplish different missions, operating as parts of tactical groups and groupings.
A naval battle against surface ships of a conventional enemy and a search operation to detect a submarine that ended with its destruction using conventional anti-submarine weapons were held within the exercise. The tasks to destroy a target on the shore with artillery were successfully executed.
During the exercises many missiles, artillery and torpedoes were fired, bombings were also carried out.
