A spokesman for Rosoboronexport said Russia hoped to expand the geography of cooperation on international counter-terrorist issues by participating in the international police equipment and weapons exhibition, China Police 2004.
A the exhibition, Russia's main arms dealer will present the weapons used by Russia's Federal Security Service and Interior Ministry units in hostage rescue and counter terrorist operations as well as over 200 innovative projects and developments in such areas as ecology, power industry, engineering, machine tool industry, shipbuilding, medicine, chemistry and new materials development.
"The Rosoboronexport management is confident that its participation in the international exhibition will promote all types of military and civilian hi-tech products, manufactured by the Russian military industrial complex enterprises, to the Chinese and other Southeast Asian countries' markets," the spokesman said.
The Chinese Public Security Ministry organized the exhibition to exchange experience and establish business cooperation with the leading manufacturers of equipment and munitions for police and public security forces.
China is expected to sign the majority of contracts on purchase of modern police and security force equipment because Beijing will host the Olympic Games in 2008.
After it was selected to host the games, China promised to ensure that everything was at the highest possible level, including the security of the guests and participants in the international sporting event. To accomplish this, China will need the state-of-the-art protective and police equipment that, according the organizing committee, the over 263 exhibitors will display at the exhibition.
