Russia's foreign minister Sergey Lavrov is on the way to Laos for talks with his counterparts from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Mr. Lavrov will be discussing plans for a Russia-ASEAN summit scheduled for December in Malaysia.
Talks will focus on Russia's application to join the ASEAN summit, as well as regional security, the fight against terrorism and coordinating aid for countries hit by natural disasters, like the tsunami that ravaged Indonesia and other countries in December, the AP reports.
