Britney Spears is to attend the Teen Choice Awards on August 10- but will not perform.
One of Brit’s team had mistakenly announced that she was said to sing at the show on her website.
A later update explained that she would only be appearing to collect an award. The statement said: “We are deeply sorry for any confusion and disappointment and appreciate the ongoing dedication of Britney's wonderful fans,” MTV UK reports.
The 27-year-old star is also nominated in three categories, Choice Music Single, Choice Female Artist and Choice Music Tour.
She will be up against stars including Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Kelly Clarkson, TVNZ reports.
Meanwhile, this has already been a good week for Spears. On Tuesday, she was nominated for video of the year at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards. "Womanizer" also earned her a nod for pop video while "Circus" picked up five technical noms.
Last year, Spears won the top prize at the VMAs for "Piece of Me" as well as two more Moonmen. Those wins were a surprise given that she had lost all 16 of her previous VMA races. Her appearance on that MTV award show boosted it to record ratings, drawing more than 23 million viewers, The Los Angeles Times reports.
