These are the results of the survey "Person of the Year 2014 in Culture, Politics and Sports." The poll was conducted by the Public Opinion Fund.
As for politics, most Russians voted to give the title of the "Person of the Year 2014" to Russian President Vladimir Putin - 68%. The second place belongs to Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the leader of the Liberal and Democratic Party of Russia - 4%. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov came third with 3%.
Seventeen percent of the polled found it difficult to answer the questions.
As many as 64% of respondents could not name the best athlete of the year. Russia's second most popular athlete is skater Evgeni Plushenko (5%). Another skater, Julia Lipnitskaya, follows him with 4% of votes, the poll said.
The survey was conducted among 1,500 Russian citizens in 100 settlements of 43 regions of Russia.
