German side receives names of Germans who died in Konigsberg 1945

The Kaliningrad region administration (Russia's western region in the Baltic) has given the FRG Red Cross the lists of the German citizens who died in Konigsberg (the centre of the East Prussia that was renamed to Kaliningrad after the Second World War) in 1945, said the press service of the regional administration. The documents have been handed to head of the Red Cross research branch Kristian Saxe. He expressed his gratitude for the humane action and willingness to help citizens of the neighboring country to learn their relatives' fate. Saxe assured that Germany's Red Cross was also ready to help find information about the fate of the Soviet prisoners of war and Russians that stayed on the German territory during World War II.
