On Tuesday, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Kouizumi had a Tokyo meeting with former Russian President Boris Yeltsin. The Japanese Prime Minister received the Russian guest at his official residence in the city centre.
"I have heard a lot about you but we only met today and I really appreciate that," Kouzumi said before the meeting. He noted that Boris Yeltsin "looked very well." The meeting lasted approximately 40 minutes. Various aspects of Russo-Japanese relations were discussed in the course of the meeting, Boris Yeltsin told journalists.
Boris Yeltsin arrived in Japan upon the invitation of Japanese former Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto. Yeltsin is expected to spend two days in Tokyo and then he will head to the southern province of the country, Kagoshima. He intends to spend his vacation there.
