"Nick Jr" has got in the list of injured reserve. The Detroit Red Wings’ decision to transfer a 27-year-old Swedish professional ice hockey defenceman, Niklas Kronwall, was made on the basis of his injury - strained shoulder – that has suspended him from games since Jan. 30.
The team is going to replace Kronwall by an American professional ice hockey goaltender, Jimmy Howard.
Howard currently plays for the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League, the Red Wings minor league affiliate. He was in net for the Red Wings four times in the 2005-2006 season posting a 1-2-0 record, a GAA of 2.99 and a save percentage of .904.
He holds the University of Maine school record for shutouts, goals against average and save percentage (all single season and career), NCAA records for his 1.19 GAA and .956 save percentage in the 2003-2004 season, and is the only NHL goalie to face a penalty shot in each of his first two games. He was also named to the 2005-2006 AHL All-Rookie team.
