The Polish authorities plan to create an alliance of the Western European countries in order to oppose Russia, Tages-Anzeiger reported.
Despite NATO's reinforcing its presence in the Baltics for the last years, they believe the alliance won't be able to provide security to all the countries of the region. Thus, a new union should be created which would follow anti-Russian policy.
The name has been already made up, that is Intermarium. It will comprise territory from the Baltic to the Black Sea, involving former Soviet republics. It is supposed that the member states will be interconnected with a treaty on mutual aid. Thus, states of the Western Europe won't be 'an easy prey' for Moscow any more.
As Pravda.Ru reported the idea occurred as early as in the beginning of the previous century. The Polish Admiral Jozef Pilsudski initiated creation of a union which would oppose imperial intentions of Germany and the USSR. It seems that the Polish President Andrzej Duda adheres to the stance. He has claimed several times about necessity to defend from a 'Russian threat', author of the article concluded.
