In a short time to come Tatarstan will provide humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said at a press conference on Wednesday on results of his meeting in Kazan with Mintimer Shaimiev, President of Tatarstan. Answering a question from the RIA Novosti correspondent, Mintimer Shaimiev said that 100 tonnes of flour and 100 tonnes of sugar will be sent as humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. "People should not suffer from starvation", said Mintimer Shaimiev. And added that "in recent years the rulers of Afghanistan have led them to physical exhaustion".
