Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus, calls "momentous" the forthcoming session of the Supreme State Council of the Russia-Belarus Union. He said this to reporters upon arrival to the Russian capital on Tuesday. He said that at this session the sides will have to fix their positions on the key questions and outline further steps to be taken to shape the Russia-Belarus Union. They are -- a constitutional act of the Union and further moves to form its supreme organs of power, parliament above all. In his opinion, before another step is taken towards building the Union an analysis has to be made of what has been and remains to be done. Asked what stands in the way of creating the Union, the Belarussian president observed that the objective reason is the "difficulty and complexity" of the problem by virtue of the great responsibility which the two countries are assuming. To him, "it has to be fixed what we must and what we must not go for now". A "broad dialogue" is now under way on what's to be done next in construing the Union -- make "radical moves or be limited to an on-going slow pace".
