The European Union will allocate six million euros for the construction of another checkpoint on the Russian-Finnish border. This was reported at a session of the government of Karelia (a constituent republic in the Russian Federation) devoted to the development of the Karelian border-customs infrastructure in 2002-2006. The European Union took the decision at its session in Brussels. As of now, there are two international checkpoints and 15 easy-term checkpoints on the border between Karelia and Finland. They handle cargo and passenger transportation from all regions of Russia.
