As part of a Ukrainian-Russian economic forum it is planned to sign an agreement on the joint construction of a nuclear power station in Ukraine, it was said on the sidelines of the forum. Apart from Russian contractors taking part in the project, the Russian side will advance a credit to Ukraine to build the station, totaling 1,060,000 dollars. A source told RIA Novosti that this sum was pencilled in Russia's budget for 2002. Initially, the Ukrainian side planned to build the nuclear station with a credit from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development /EBRD/. But the bank's terms did not suit the Ukrainian side. The EBRD offered the credit at a high interest rate and on condition that Ukraine raise electricity tariffs on its territory.
After it turned out that Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov included the Fonbet betting company in the list of backbone enterprises that can count on state support, everyone started talking about these bookmakers.
