General Anatoly Kvashnin, the Head of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, will visit Turkey on January 14-16, 2002, a spokesman for the Defence Ministry said on Friday. According to him, on January 14 Kvashnin will hold talks with General Husein Kivrikoglu, the Head of the Turkish General Staff, and National Defence Minister Sabahattin Cakmakoglu. The sides will discuss the condition and prospects for the development of Russian-Turkish military and technical cooperation, the fight against international terrorism, the European security, strategic stability and anti-missile defence. Kvashnin is expected to inform his Turkish counterparts on the reforms of the Russian Armed Forces. After the talks, Anatoly Kvashnin will visit several military units and objects of the Turkish Armed Forces in Ankara and other cities. No documents are to be signed following the talks.
