Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited his predecessor in the post of Russian president, Boris Yeltsin, to attend events connected with the anniversary summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Putin said this as he opened a meeting in the Kremlin with the president of Kazakhstan. Putin said he had "just talked on the telephone" with the first Russian president. The Russian president noted that Boris Yeltsin "stood at the source of the CIS". On Wednesday evening, Yeltsin met in his country residence with Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, who arrived in Moscow for the CIS anniversary summit. After noting that no more guests were expected in the house of the first Russian president in the next few days, Yeltsin's protocol chief said that Yeltsin may take part in a reception on November 30 arranged by Vladimir Putin in honour of heads of states of the commonwealth, who arrived for the anniversary summit. According to Shevchenko, Yeltsin feels well.
