In the course of the Wednesday negotiations, Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko hopes to discuss with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin possible ways to implement a number of, primarily, economic provisions of the Russo-Belarussian Union Treaty. "These six or seven provisions have not been completely fulfilled," the Belarussian President told journalists on arriving in Moscow. "Before we enter a new stage of integration and hold parliamentary elections, we should clear up the issue of the Treaty's provisions and appendixes, which have not been implemented yet," Lukashenko stressed. Alexander Lukashenko also said that all the issues relating to creating a new Union between Russia and Belarus, should be resolved at the presidential level. He emphasised the necessity to define the functions of the Union's parliament and formalise them in a relevant constitutional act.
