At dawn on Sunday fierce fighting for Kunduz was resumed. In the offensive 12,000 troopers of the governmental forces of Afghanistan, tank and artillery units and rangers are involved, reports a source from the Taliban news agency Orie Press. According to it, the operation to seize Kunduz is guided by Afghan Defense Minister Mohammad Kasym Fahim. He arrived to the main headquarters of the Eastern front located in Talukan. Experts say that the fighting for Kunduz, where from 7,000 to 10,000 foreign mercenaries and Taliban fanatics are concentrated who have flatly refused to fulfil the capitulation ultimatum of the command of the governmental forces, is of exceptional importance for a final stage of the operation to destroy international terrorists in the North of Afghanistan. The Orie Press source also said that combats for Kandahar still continue, but they are of a local character. The warring sides are obviously waiting for an outcome of the Kunduz fight.
