On Tuesday, India's Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee got a doctoral diploma of Moscow's Lomonosov State University. Vajpayee is currently on an official visit to Moscow. At an official ceremony in this oldest and most widely-known Russian institution of higher learning, he expressed gratitude to Russia for the assistance it had rendered to "India's scientific-technological infrastructure in many vital spheres," said Vajpayee. According to the Indian premier, over the past years cooperation between the two countries in science, technology and other spheres has deepened. Today it encompasses the area of research in space and metallurgy, aeronautics and the production of an antipolyo vaccine. Cooperation is permanently expanding and new areas are emerging, such as a joint biotechnology center, which will open in India this year, said Vajpayee.
