26.4 t. of Humanitarian freight from American non-commercial organization AmeriCares has arrived in Tashkent on February 19th. It was delivered to “Soglom avlod uchun” (Healthy Generation) International non-governmental organization, with support from US State Department and US Embassy in Uzbekistan.
The aid includes medicines and medical instruments, assigned for cardio-surgical departments of hospitals in Uzbekistan. U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan John Herbst was at Tashkent’s airport for the arrival of the shipment.
In Uzbekistan, AmeriCares collaborates closely with their long-time partner "Soglum Avlod Uchun" Foundation, Uzbek non-governmental organization, and they already delivered US$15 million worth of aid.
AmeriCares is a nonprofit disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization. It provides immediate response to emergency medical needs. The remarks from the Pope came as "a very strong step towards degradation," "given the rather massive nature of homosexuality" among the Catholic clergy.
