The results are a clear defeat for former president Miguel Trovoada’s Ue-Kedadji/ADI coalition, while Fradique de Menezes, the incumbent President, saw his Movement for the Freedom of Sao Tome and Principe/Social Democratic party (MLSTP/PSD) draw with the main opposition group, Democratic Movement of Forces for Change (MDFM). Composed by eight political parties.
Each group is expected to receive 23 members of parliament, while the election was declared “free and fair” by the team of international observers.
