Operation to raise Kursk's first compartment postponed

The beginning of the operation to raise the first compartment of the Kursk nuclear submarine from the floor of the Barents Sea may be postponed for yet another week, said the press service of the Northern Fleet. So far, the weather in the Kursk disaster area remains the same: moderate sea, wind force of 10-12 mps, swell, and sleet. It is impossible to launch the salvage operation in these conditions, which the Northern Fleet's hydrometeorological service says are not likely to improve in the next 7 days. The press service dismissed reports about the Northern Fleet postponing the operation until June, saying the Special Task Expedition was ready to set out to the disaster area as soon as the weather improved.
