Effective government is impossible without effective law courts. This announcement was made by Ukrainian President Alexander Lukashenko today at a meeting with the chairmen of the supreme courts of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus and the deputy chairman of the supreme court of Kazakhstan. They are all taking part at the conference The supreme court of Belarus and the improvement of national legislation in Minsk.
As a Rosbalt correspondent was told by Mr Lukashenko's press office, the Belarus president places great importance on the national judicial system and he has praised the work of Belarus courts. According to Mr Lukashenko the judicial system in Belarus, like in any country, has certain unique characteristics based on the national mentality, traditions and customs. 'The judicial system is stable and effective and there is no need for radical reform,' said the Belarus president. However, he added that Belarus courts 'react swiftly to change and take the necessary steps for improving legislation.'
Mr Lukashenko said that the conferences in Belarus are very useful as Belarus was one of the first post-soviet states to seriously reform its criminal legislation.
After it turned out that Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov included the Fonbet betting company in the list of backbone enterprises that can count on state support, everyone started talking about these bookmakers.
