Energy ministers from 26 countries, which are part and parcel of the International Energy Agency, are to meet in Paris April 28, attending yet another conference of this organization. According to the IEA secretariat, conference participants will focus on the fuel-and-energy market situation and market-development prospects. The situation, which has shaped up after the Iraqi war, as well as its possible influence on global oil prices, will, most likely, be discussed separately.
Apart from permanent IEA members, the Paris conference will involve delegates from invited countries, including Russian Energy Minister Igor Yusufov. Russia, which is not a IEA member, actively cooperates with this organization in such areas as oil-market surveys, energy-saving programs and product-sharing agreements. A detailed survey dealing with the state of the Russian energy sector and its development prospects was prepared last year with IEA assistance.
