At the invitation of US Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham Russian ambassador to the USA Yuri Ushakov visited the Livermore National Laboratory, a leading scientific and research arms center of the country, the press service of the Russian embassy in the USA reported on Wednesday.
Director of the laboratory Michael Anastasio acquainted Yuri Ushakov with the main directions of the center's activity, including the investigations in nuclear power engineering, medicine, seismology and laser technologies. The Russian diplomat saw the latest equipment designed in the laboratory on the order of the US Department of the Interior and meant to prevent acts of terror.
Acting director of the US Nuclear Facilities Safety Board Linton Brooks attended the Laboratory during Yuri Ushakov's visit there. The ambassador discussed with Linton Brooks a lot of Russo-American cooperation projects in the nuclear field, as well as cooperation between the energy ministries of the two countries.
When visiting the laboratory the Russian ambassador met with representatives of the US companies, including Boeing, Intel and others, which take an active part in the implementation of joint projects in "closed" Russian cities.
