Channel 4 yesterday apologized to Tom Cruise after the actor was squirted with water as part of a stunt the broadcaster said was meant to be a "light-hearted comedy prank", writes the British Guardian. Four men, working on Channel 4 comedy Balls of Steel, were arrested and later released on police bail, reports ITV. The film crew, who performed the prank for an upcoming comedy show to be broadcast by British TV network Channel 4, have been ordered to report back to police on July 4 and could be charged with assault if Cruise decides to take the matter further.
42-year-old Cruise was giving interviews to journalists attending the celebrity screening at Leicester Square's Odeon cinema when he was soaked with water squirted from a bogus microphone. The Hollywood star considered this prank as "incredibly rude" and even called a prankster a "jerk".
