German police on Tuesday staged nationwide raids on alleged supporters of a banned far-right group, seizing a number of weapons as well as propaganda material.

Twenty-seven people were detained briefly in the operation aimed at supporters of the Blood and Honor group. They were released after questioning, police said.

Investigators in Bavaria said they seized a pistol and a hand grenade during raids on homes in the southern state.

Police also confiscated T-shirts, compact discs, posters, videos and other material related to the group, which the German government banned in 2000, reports the AP.
