State Duma deputy from the LDPR faction, Roman Khudyakov, sent a letter to the Nobel Committee, in which the MP proposed to deprive US President Barack Obama of the Nobel Peace Prize, which he received five years ago.
The Russian MP proceeds from illegal, in his opinion, and violent actions of the US President in the Middle East. In addition, Khudyakov claims that Obama funds the armed conflict in the south-east of Ukraine.
The official appeals to indirect and direct involvement of Barack Obama in many wars that have taken place in the world in the last years of his presidency. Roman Khudyakov believes that they should be a good reason for depriving the American president of the award.
"I am outraged about the fact that Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. This prize is awarded to a person, who can maintain peace, harmony and sow only good worldwide. On the part of the US President, I see only war, devastation, violence and killings of innocent people," said Khudyakov.
Khudyakov believes that Barack Obama should refresh his memory of world history. According to him, the US leader may "finish, just like Hitler did." According to the politician, there is only one person who deserves the Peace Prize today - Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"I wrote a request to the Organizing Committee of the Nobel Prize to revise the correctness of their decision and deprive Obama of the prize. He does not deserve it, and only one man deserves this prize - our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. It was Putin, who stopped the war in Iran in Syria and continues to safeguard a large number of people from bloodshed," said Khudyakov.
This is not the first request to the Nobel committee from Russian MPs. Earlier, a similar request came from deputy chairperson of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation, Lyudmila Bokova.
However, the colleagues of the MPs, who appealed to the Nobel Committee with such a request, believe that the committee would not revise the decision.
Earlier, more than ten laureates of the Nobel Peace Prize urged Obama to disclose the information about the use of torture by the United States. It goes about the torture, used by CIA agents against 9/11 suspects. The authors of the letter to Barack Obama believe that the president of the United States should put an end to the era, when the USA's example will be used to justify torture in the world.
In the spring of this year, Senator from the Saratov region of Russia Lyudmila Bokova stated that the US president was following the policy of double standards supporting the fascist regime that the illegal administration formed in Ukraine.
The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded annually for outstanding achievements in strengthening peace. The prize was founded in 1901. Throughout the years, the prize was awarded to Mother Teresa, Dalai Lama, USSR President Mikhail Gorbachev and former UN General Secretary Kofi Annan.
There were many incidents in the history of the Nobel Peace Prize, when it was awarded to notorious figures. One of the brightest examples is late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, who said in 1980 that for him, peace implied the destruction of Israel. Former US Secretary of State Cordell Hull was also a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. However, in 1939, he refused to let more than 900 Jewish refugees in the United States and sent them to die in Europe.
