Bayern, PSG and Barça set the pace in the German, French and Spanish leagues while in Russia, the title race with three games to go is set for a photo-finish with four Moscow clubs chasing hard on the heels of leader Zenit.

With three games to go before the winter stoppage, FC Zenit St. Petersburg leads with 54 points, followed by four Moscow clubs, three of them with any realistic chance of lifting the trophy, after Spartak threw away any hopes it had with a 3-0 thrashing away to Rubin Kazan. Lokomotiv keeps its hopes alive by beating Tom Tomsk 3-0, while Zenit drew at home to third-placed Dynamo Moskva 0-0 and CSKA could do no better than a 2-2 home draw with Terek Grozny.

In the Rome derby, Lazio beat Roma 2-1 and Napoli lost all three points at home to Parma, in a 1-2 defeat.

Schalke lost ground with a 1-2 home defeat with Kaiserslautern and Stuttgart did itself a favour with a 2-0 home victory over Hoffenheim.
